I picked up this cigar at Casablanca Tobacconist yesterday and let it rest for only one day because I couldn’t wait to smoke it. Tonight after a nice burger I came home and poured my self a Johnnie Walker Gold Label and sat down to relax with this beauty. Here goes:

Pre-light:

The construction on this cigar is flawless. The wrapper is a dark chocolate color seen on most Bolivar cigars. Clipped the cap and unfortunately got a tight draw but thankfully still being able to get a draw. Cigar was a little too moist and I think that contributed to a tighter draw.

First third:
Cigar lid up nicely and right off the bat I got the Bolivar full body taste. It produced lots of smoke and the finish was very long. Ash was looking a little flaky and more on the gray side. I was getting leather with coffee and sweetness undertone which was pleasant. The smoke exhaled from my sinuses was very smooth and not harsh at all. The Draw was still tight and close to the beginning of second third the sweet coffee flavor was fading and was replaced with pleasant Cuban tobacco flavors. Burn was razor sharp and no correction was required.

Second third:
Going into second third, even though draw was tight but the cigar was producing lots of smoke. The ash was holding strong but cigar fell into the ashtray and the ash came off. Gold label whisky was complimenting the Cuban flavor and the finish on the palette was getting longer and longer the more I got into the second third. Burn line was still going good. Coffee and coco started to appear again with no harshness or bitter taste and I kept puffing away. Now I was definitely getting a similar characteristic as Bolivar Royal Corona which is truly one of the best Habanos made.

Final third:
Second band “Exclusico Canada” should come off now for me to continue with this cigar. Draw didn’t open up but still not problematic because I was really enjoying the taste. I was slowly getting some harshness and tried to wash it away from my palette with the Gold Label. The body started building up to the point that I had to lay it down. I was not getting any smoke out of it and it was time to say goodbye.

Conclusion:
I think Bolivar Simones Canada Regional Edition is a great cigar and I really enjoyed it and I would certainly recommend it. Took me one hour to smoke it and I think its a great cigar for after dinner. I rate it 9.1 out of 10.

  1. Great website I will definetly stop by, come back to check this out more often.

  2. [...] After surveying Canadian consumers, Habanos rolled a new Regional Edition cigar called Bolivar B-2 for Canada.  B-2 is Pyramids 52 x 156 (6.1″) and comes in a box of 25 and only 1000 boxes were produced. Pirce is around $30. This is the second time Canada gets a Bolivar regional edition and the first time it was called Bolivar Simones (robusto) which I reviewed couple of years back. 3. Just picked up one of these on the weekend from LCDH. Should be interesting to try, since it is now more than three years aged.
